Mennonite Central Committee is hosting a series of four webinars, which they describe this way:
Amidst political discord and talks of annexation across the Canada-US border, what is the call to followers of Jesus to respond? MCC is hosting four thought-provoking webinars that will explore learning from nonviolent power, peace possibilities and inter-national solidarity.
Dates and themes are as follows:
Session #1: Remembering Who We Are
Sunday, May 4th from 7:00pm – 8:30pm EDT
We are a people of peace who have learned much about pursuing justice. How can we remember our history in a way that honours both the gifts we have to give and the gifts we have received?
Session #2: Who Would Jesus Polarize?
Sunday, May 11th from 7:00pm - 8:30pm EDT
Jesus taught peace but caused division - an apparent paradox. What’s the relationship between peace and division biblically and theologically?
Session #3: Reconciling Resistance and Reconciliation
Sunday, June 1st from 7:00pm-8:30pm EDT
All around the world many people have freed themselves and secured justice by weaving together nonviolent resistance and peacebuilding. What can we learn from them?
Session #4: National Defense Without Weapons
Sunday, June 8th 7:00pm – 8:30pm EDT
What if our current crisis is an opportunity for church-based, peace innovation - a realistic way to protect against invasion without violence?
