We launch our final musical devotional for the summer with Hold Me Jesus.

Well, sometimes my life just don't make sense at all
When the mountains look so big,
And my faith just seems so small

So hold me Jesus,
Cause I'm shaking like a leaf
You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

And I wake up in the night and feel the dark
It's so hot inside my soul
I swear there must be blisters on my heart

So hold me Jesus,
Cause I'm shaking like a leaf
You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

Surrender don't come natural to me
I'd rather fight you for something
I don't really want
Than to take what you give that I need
And I've beat my head against so many walls
Now I'm falling down, I'm falling on my knees

And the Salvation Army band is playing this hymn
And Your grace rings out so deep
It makes my resistance seem so thin

So hold me Jesus,
Cause I'm shaking like a leaf
You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

You have been King of my glory
Won't You be my Prince of Peace

  • What mountains are you facing right now, in which you need Jesus to hold you and be your Prince of Peace? Spend some time in quiet simply asking him to hold you in your struggles.
  • This song speaks a truth many of us feel. We find ourselves fighting for things we don’t really want when God offers us all that we really need. The apostle Paul had to work through this when he pleaded with God to take his “thorn in the flesh” from him. (2 Cor. 12:7-10) It wasn’t taken away and Paul discovered that, “[God’s] grace is sufficient for you, for [his] power is made perfect in weakness.” Is there you fighting to get or get rid of which could actually be used to draw you deeper into God’s grace?
  • Take some time in quiet today to rest in the comfort that despite any doubts and struggles you may have, your King of glory and Prince of Peace loves you deeply i and is with you wherever you go.
