As most of you are aware, the Province of Ontario has announced that we are moving into Phase 1 of our "Roadmap to Reopening" on Friday, June 11. For many of us, this is the first time in a long time that we have seen light at the end of the tunnel. As a church family, this is the first step towards being able to offer some opportunities for larger in-person events. Here is some news and some reminders about what will be upcoming at Covenant.

  • Sunday, June 20th (Father's Day Sunday) - outdoor musical worship at 6 pm at Covenant. Bring lawn chairs and join us for some music on the lawn at Covenant. We are required to stay distanced (2 m), but beyond that, there are no restrictions for us in numbers for a "religious ceremony." We are looking forward to this opportunity to see each other and sing together! Watch for future dates to be announced as planned.
  • Encouragement Rocks - Join us in painting some encouragement rocks to bless the community at Georgian Village & Manor! Details and timelines are available here.
  • Youth Resuming in Person - Although the numbers for social events are still small, our youth leaders are being creative in finding ways to meet in person while still honouring the health regulations. Please pray for our students and leaders as this has been an especially challenging time for youth.
  • Online Sunday Services - We are continuing to offer our regular Sunday Morning gathering online. We anticipate being back to offering in-person, indoor gatherings in early September. Don't forget that if you can't connect with us on Sunday morning, the services remain on YouTube to engage with at any time. Also, you can invite others to join you in watching the service. Perhaps you have a friend or family member who lives a distance away from you...you could create an online watch party to go to church together. Or, you could take your computer or TV outside and host a small watch party on your deck. Let's be creative as we look for ways to connect in person!

Finally, after all this time without in-person gatherings, we know that we have missed something special and vital for our health. We are rightfully excited to begin to be with each other again. But I encourage you not to confuse the excitement and joy of being together with the idea that God is somehow more present with us when we are in the same space. God has been and will continue to be with you. While we continue this journey towards regathering, don't miss out on his presence with you today!

I can never escape from your Spirit!
    I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there;
    if I go down to the grave, you are there.
If I ride the wings of the morning,
    if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me,
    and your strength will support me.
I could ask the darkness to hide me
    and the light around me to become night—
    but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day.
    Darkness and light are the same to you.

-Psalm 139:7-12
