We are putting together a small team of students to oversee and lead our VBS for 2017. This VBS Lead Team will be responsible for all aspects of planning, training, promoting and running our VBS. We’ll walk alongside you as you develop and use your gifts to serve God, children and our community!

Are you . . .

  • Completing grades 8-12?
  • Interested in sharing your love for Jesus with children?
  • Excited to learn, grow and develop as a leader?
  • Ready to take on significant responsibility?
  • Available to work at least five hours per week through May and June?
  • Available to work during the days of July 4-7 and afternoons on July 9-13 (Sunday to Friday) to set up?
  • Available to lead VBS during the evenings from July 9-13 (Sunday to Thursday) for VBS?
  • Available to help with the VBS celebration service on July 16 and to complete clean up after the service?

If this describes you, you’re invited to apply for our 2017 VBS Lead Team!

In order to apply you need to:

  1. Prepare a resume – including three references
  2. Write a brief testimony/story about your trust in Jesus and your relationship with him
  3. Include both your resume and testimony as your application and submit to Pastor Jon by April 16. (jon@covenantchurch.ca)

Limited positions are available:

  • Maximum of four positions available
  • Priority will be given to students who are committed, active participants at Covenant Church
  • Depending on ages/experience of the participants, students may be asked to take different levels of leadership within the Lead Team.             

A role on the Lead Team will challenge you in:

  • Planning and leading a big program
  • Following and implementing policies (specifically our Plan to Protect policy)
  • Working with a team of diverse people
  • Communicating with children and their parents
  • Coordinating and leading volunteers
  • Problem solving and decision making in fast paced and, at times, chaotic environments
  • Responding positively even in challenging situations
  • Maintaining an emphasis on Jesus in the midst of a busy program

Details of an honourarium to thank participants for their ministry will be discussed with applicants and given following VBS.
