This is the final Tuesday of Black History Month. As we have been considering how a Christian could be involved politically, I can't help but think of one of the best contemporary examples - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He never held office. He was not a pawn for any political party. And yet Dr. King's famous I Have a Dream speech was a powerful commentary with deep political ramifications. (Click here to watch that speech.)

But long before he ever stood at the Lincoln Memorial to give his speech, he made decisions which gave weight to his words. He dreamed of a world at peace. He spoke about a world at peace. But for Dr. King it was more than dreams or words. It was a pursuit. It was a pursuit demonstrated most powerfully when his own home was bombed, almost killing his family. Rather than seeking vengeance, he calmed an angry crowed ready to voilently pursue his attackers. He lived the peace he sought to receive from others. Take a minute to watch the video below and consider the places you need to leave things up to God as you pursue the peace of Jesus.
